The overall sense of the entire episode is more of a letdown than a surprise in terms of the choices made. Many very, very good contestants are ousted for less outstanding contestants to go through. Nevertheless, the PK performances are mostly still worth watching, especially 外面的世界, 拒绝再玩 and 爱. As you may have guessed, many of the songs of the Dream Coach (Karen Mok) were featured.
Possibly the most deserving contestant from 齐秦's battle team, 刘双双's rendition of 致青春 is most haunting and beautiful. Considering her as a worthy competitor of Faye Wong might be too high praise previously, but after her performance of 千言万语 together with her partner 崔西 will make listeners surrender to the wonderful voice of hers. Later, in her sing-off, she performed the quirkily-paced English song "I Am Me Once More" to secure a position in the the top 4.
2. 张卓含威
In his PK round with 白穆 in which they sang the classic song of Karen Mok - 爱, I preferred 白穆's performance which was more melodious and had greater depth in emotions. Nevertheless 齐秦 went on to choose 张卓含威 who sounded like a weaker version of 李琦 (ie. Season 2's champion). The way he shortened each of the sentences or changed the original songs did not sit well with me either. I am most indignant when 汪峰 actually suggested that 郑心慈 was too young to sing 身骑白马 (and therefore should be ousted)! I think she performed the song beautifully and I love her voice too.
3. 魏然
Amidst rumours that his advancement is already fixed by organizers and judges, what do you think? I find that the relationship between 魏然 and 齐秦 is extremely similar to 耿斯汉 and 汪峰, I found 魏然's performance had continuously weakened since his first debut on stage, yet his advancement is very predictable because his teacher's favouritism is too apparent. In his PK against 罗景文, his voice was straining against the latter's very stable and skilful performance. In the sing-off component against the very moving performance of 南玛子呷, the characterless performance of 改变自己 is another unconvincing win. I know, I supported him all the while but last night's performance was a letdown... maybe I was expecting too much from him and to eventually PK 耿斯汉 on an equal footing.
Postscript: Do you know that 魏然 and 耿斯汉 are actually good friends and fellow students from Nanjing Arts Institute before the competition?
4. 秦宇子
UZ can be said to be comfortable to listen to and a beautiful contestant too, but I think it's quite surprising to see her at the finals because her voice isn't distinctive nor does she have any characteristic that made her stand out. She doesn't have the sweetness of 陈永馨 and can't be as explosive as 陈冰, so she'll probably not advance too far out into the competition.

It still boggles my mind how she couldn't advance into the top 4 because I like her more than any of the top 4 chosen. I really like her voice, even more so than 李文琦 who is the same age as her. Tough decisions...

I've finish reading and I find it no point for you to bring this up. You are not 齐秦 how are you so sure that they are not worth to be in the top 4? It's just your personal opinion but the way you mention, you didn't even give them the basic respect, the way you say sounds like someone who can sing exactly like them but i don't think so. If you rephrase what you have said in the blog yes I will discuss but I'm sorry, I can foresee your so call "discuss" will be one sided and it's unfair to them who made into Top 4.

DeleteBut 耿斯汉 is seems like a big fan of 汪峰 and seems really attached to his teacher, I feel that 魏然 is not as close to 齐秦 as 耿斯汉 is to 汪峰. He did not thank 齐秦 for turning for him and teaching him and all during the battle like many of 齐秦's students did like 申钰林，莉娃，张卓含威，楼沁 and many more, which is very disappointing to me because I think he should be the most obliged to do so, on stage. He ONLY thank 齐秦 for choosing the song for him and 罗景文. He appeared very self centred when the host asked him to expressed his feelings, appear to beshowing concern to his friends and himself and not showing anything for his teacher.
ReplyDeleteHmm one possibility is that 魏然 is very confident that he will proceed to the next stage so there is no hurry to thank 齐秦 yet as he will have chances to do that in future. That's what I observe... 耿斯汉 and 魏然 have quite different personalities, that's for sure. But somehow I find that 齐秦 is quite protective of 魏然...
