Tank Fish & Chippery - Melbourne's Restaurants

A decent cheap eat under AUD10. Fresh from the oceans!

Truth: The entire Lygon Street only had churros, gelato and very expensive Italian restaurants so none of them fit my broke-student budget. I confess, I also went in for the dark blue walls. I have an incredibly soft spot for this particular shade of blue and I haven't had fish in a while so Tank Fish & Chippery it is!

I got you pictures of the menu from Tank Fish & Chippery here. You can get most mains at around AUD10 (+-3AUD depending on your choice), and a bit more if you want to add-on anything.

I love the nautical theme. It is absolutely effortless to get on-point food pictures here because of its full-length glass windows flanking two sides, allowing natural sunlight to stream in beautifully. And they got basic white, or porcelain-inspired tables for you too. Head over to their Instagram @tanktankfishchips to see how they can regularly churn out drool-worthy Instagram pictures of their menu.

Despite the casual seafood joint feel of Tank Fish & Chippery, their service is top-notch. They were extremely attentive and even bothered to ask how I felt about the dish I ordered mid-way. That was real dedication there. I truly felt very welcomed in their shop and the service staff were all so sincere!

I had acquired a new habit of going with the flow instead of being too rigid with my menu decisions, so I chose Today's Catch without actually looking at what that catch was (no pun intended). It turned out to be blue grenadier, served on a bed of tasty chips (AUD8.5). I would definitely recommend you to go with Today's Catch because it was spectacularly fresh, it had a very mild pleasant scent of the sea, slightly moist, tender, and smooth. There was a sprinkle of salt over it for seasoning and needless to say I enjoyed it very much. There was actually no need for the extra salt because the original taste was really good. I cleared the plate at one shot.
