Vellus Hair Studio

I have been hiding away from civilization except to stutter out an essay and working on crafts, Photoshop and picture editing. Well, I guess it's about time I blogged about my new hairstyle & colour from Vellus Hair Studio!!! I've been meaning to do my hair for the longest time ever, but sparing three hours sitting in a salon seemed too much to squeeze into my schedule until circumstances call for it. I mean, look at my black roots growing out; it looks like black-to-brown ombre already.

Not to mention dry and frizzy ends!!! :( I don't bother combing my hair too often, nor do I care much about shampooing my head thoroughly because I find that it's too troublesome to go through it properly every single day. Conditioning was an even greater hassle that I wouldn't take. Lazy, I know... but don't you long-haired girls concur with me?

Not very nice hair but still selca. Because #selcaanywhere (in Batam).

So I finally found myself at Vellus Hair Studio to do salvage my terrible hair (check: last salon visit in December 2013 for a cut, and previously July 2013 for a hair colouring session). I had to trouble the boss of Vellus Hair Studio to take a "before" photo because my arm wasn't flexible enough to bend over. Just then, cammie just had to show its allegiance to me and refuse to cooperate under low light.

Before commencing, the lady boss of Vellus Hair Studio, Josie and I discussed about the sort of hair colour and hairstyle that I wanted. She was really professional and know her stuff inside out! I needed something that was different (from my original brown), slightly brighter but not loud and special. I'm a fussy customer, I know... yet I don't know a thing about hair colouring, so I trusted her skills and experience to whip up something awesome.

Josie managed to incorporate all these and actually mixed a unique colour for me using three different dyes... I love it! ;) As you can see, the whole cut/colouring/treatment process is done in a private room. The service is definitely premium... during the treatment, the seat is also adjustable and I could lie down and take a quick nap while the machine hums along, steaming my head wonderfully.

Post-colour: After a few washes it has gotten even redder. O_O For the softness of my hair, I admit that I have gotten more hardworking in conditioning my hair because I want to maximise the treatment effects. As most of my friends know, I'm a bargain hunter and spend most of my money on food rather than beauty products/pampering - so here is the Groupon for this value-for-money deal. It is already over, but there's another ongoing deal by Vellus Hair Studio. I'm really confident of their professionalism and level of comfort at this studio, so give it a try since it's at a super discounted price! You won't have a chance anymore when the groupon expires... do make a call and book an appointment before getting the Groupon. :)

Time for selfies!!! (Will take more when I roam around with my camera)

    1. Hi Nadrahh,
Yes I went to the salon by Groupon :) I added on $38 for haircut (first-time customers price). The colour is vivid and strong, but it bleeds quite badly even after 4-5 washes (red dye).

    1. Hi Gina!

Josie used a mixture of three colors which I don't know exactly which! When you go for an appointment, you can tell her your concerns/requirements/wishes about your ideal hairstyle and color and she'll whip up something for you. I trust her aesthetic eye ;) The red dye doesn't look like it faded at all (in fact gets a little brighter now) even after almost 7 weeks as of now.

    1. Hi Samantha,

The hair dye used was the normal type. I did hair treatment as well, but the effects only lasted as long as a few days. My hair texture is normally already quite dry so I don't think it was damaged by the dye itself. You can check out my post on Essential on other ways to protect your hair in the long-term which I find to be more effective (and cheaper) than salon treatments.
