328 Katong Laksa

How can I call myself a Singaporean without trying 328 Katong Laksa?! FOMO. Or a food blogger, for that matter... but life's like that. If you don't go actively seeking for something, it's not going to happen just by waiting for it. (GO FOR IT!) So I did.

With some roadworks in the way, 328 Katong Laksa is being hidden away. However, street smart locals would know how to navigate their way to find this famous place even with their eyes closed - that's probably why it is teeming with queues by dinner time! There are two portions - small or big as demarcated by the colour of the bowls.

Opinions differ when it comes to the holy grail of Singapore laksa... quite a few people considered this overrated and pretty normal, but others swear by this. I think that the 328 Katong Laksa has its own distinctive flavour as compared to most other laksas in hawker centres or food courts, especially in its heavily accented coconut milk and spicy aftertaste of the laksa soup base. What's worth mentioning is the way they presented it - they chopped the smooth noodles into shorter chunks for easier consumption, which messy eaters would appreciate. I think there's no "better" or "worse" when it comes to this comparing this laksa to other nondescript ones, but just a matter of preference. I like this better because I like how the spiciness is manageable and coconut milk is my preferred calorie poison.

If you'd never tried it before, I think you should for the full experience of being Singaporean. now I can safely tell others how other laksas rank against THE 328 one. But then again, it isn't so extraordinary to the point that warrant a special trip down to try.
