Every time I venture into the East side of the island, I feel like a tourist. I found myself at Australian cafe Percolate on a forlorn rainy afternoon. I was really not sure what to expect but you know, just looking around. The cafe spans a very snug, slim space with intricate touches that reminded me of someone's Muji-inspired living room.

A slumber ago, I was holing up in the national library nearby which still had the yesteryear design... I needed a quick pick-me-up! Percolate has coffee - enough to attract me... then I spot this little corner next to the counter. Psyche of a regular 2015-modern Instagrammer: can you imagine just doing a flatlay with one of those magazines?

Coffee was beckoning; I realized soon after that Percolate is really big on their brews  (but not so much for their food). I ordered a hot mocha - my usual comfort cup - made of a batch of Kenyan coffee beans. It is surprising one of the best I've had around the island, with smooth being an understatement and satisfying till the last drop. It's an instant pick-me-up and polished as it does.

Their ham and cheese croissant sandwich was understandably routine and easy to put-together in a regular kitchen; but well Percolate made it obvious that they're all about that coffee. Percolates makes for a much better than a casual stopover for your dose of caffeine, but don't expect too much from the food.. at least for now.
