Cafe Gourmand is not a particularly recommendation of a 'must-go' in Paris because I obviously haven't been dwelling in this alluring city long enough to determine what's good. This was the last dinner we had together before leaving for London, so I'm doing this food post just as a wrap-up and a reminiscence of one of the more memorable meals I've had with family (minus the sister who was on honeymoon).

The disheveled walked-the-whole-day look.. but I remember this moment was when I felt like I could really love Paris despite her flaws, and feeling none of the initial traveling jitters from having to decide where/how to go. You know, taking charge is as empowering as it is nerve-wrecking.. though I have to say a bit more of the former than the latter. Or, I was just really pumped up to finally have a virgin-go at escargots.
This is officially my favourite choice of protein. Did I really discover this only after 21 years of existence? I must have w-o-l-s tattooed on my back without my knowing. It is insanely good and I'm craving for it every single time this image pops into my mind. I find snails cute but I love escargots more... that buttery, chewy squishy texture along with a good dose of truffle oil would go into my top five food I'd bring to a deserted island.
Maybe it's because only selected Singapore's restaurants that can deliver quality pasta... or the Parisian restaurants I've gone to are particularly good. I would think that this portion and that creamy carbonara would send the jelat sirens blaring over the hill, but no... somehow they manage to perfect that art of beautiful cheese sliding all over every groove of that pasta and yes, I think I polished that bowl off.
The pizzas were pretty good too although they are surprisingly relatively less memorable. I remembered lunging for them piece after piece and then they were all gone. I guess that's a good sign. Of course, the escargots have taken up most of my memory space for this meal.
We were even given these colourful sweets (or chocolate?) after the meal, to which we passed it onto our airbnb owner as a parting gift so I never knew what is wrapped in that glossy foil. In the next post, you will find me in London! Check back soon, okay?
